Camaro News: Buy Camaro #1 at Barrett-Jackson Auction

One very passionate Camaro enthusiast at the 2009 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction will come away with the keys to the first regular retail production-built unit of Chevy’s all-new, 21st Century Sports Car. This first Camaro built for regular retail production will have a VIN ending with 100001*.

Importantly, the winning bidder will have the ability to spec and order their Camaro to their liking, choosing from several colors, V6 or V8 engines, a manual or automatic transmission, and various trim packages and free-flow options. The vehicle will be built on the first day of retail production — scheduled for early 2009.

Camaro News: GM Reports 10,000 Advance Orders For Camaro

General Motors has received 10,000 advance orders for its new Camaro sports car, which offers 300 horsepower on a V-6 engine.

Mark LaNeve, GM's head of North American marketing and sales, disclosed the volume of advanced orders today prior to a conference call

But there may be a little glitch.

GM is suing Cadence Innovation, a bankrupt interior parts supplier that is liquidating, to get back parts and equipment it needs for the Camaro.

In standard industry practice, GM handed over the parts and machines to Cadence to make the Camaro parts.

But even though Cadence is going out of business, it hasn't been in a hurry to return the equipment, as some company managers have tried to engineer a buyout to keep the firm going.

GM says that if it doesn't get the production equipment back by Jan. 12, the start of Camaro production will be delayed.

Camaro News: GM sues bankrupt supplier Cadence over parts, Camaro at risk

2010 Camaro Production DelayNEW YORK (Reuters) - General Motors Corp (GM.N) has filed a lawsuit against a bankrupt auto-parts supplier, saying it is holding necessary equipment "hostage" which could potentially interrupt the launch of its new Chevrolet Camaro car.

In a lawsuit filed on Wednesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, General Motors asked the court to allow it access to facilities of the supplier, Cadence Innovation, so it could obtain necessary tooling and parts for its plants.

Cadence, which makes door trim, instrument panels and air bag covers, filed for bankruptcy protection in August, but this month abandoned plans to sell itself and is now liquidating, according to court papers.

GM News: Corvette Auction: GM to Sell Part of Heritage Collection

Austin F-Body ClubLooking to make some quick cash, GM announced a corporate garage sale where they'll be selling off approximately 250 of the slightly less important and more recent collectibles from the Heritage Collection - the automaker's corporate museum. The collection will be offered over several auctions starting with Barrett-Jackson's Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona in mid-January. A non-official list of cars is circulating with 30+ Corvettes on it including several 1989 Corvette ZR-1s and a bevy of Pace Cars.
